Computational Imaging for Exoplanet Detection and Characterization

主讲人简介: He Sun is an assistant professor in College of Future Technology at Peking University. His research primarily focuses on computational imaging and adaptive optics, which tightly integrates optics, control, signal processing and machine learning to design more capable scientific imaging instrument. Prior to starting at Peking University, He was a postdoctoral researcher and Amazon AI4Science Fellow at Caltech. He obtained his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 2019 and his bachelor’s degree from Peking University in 2014. His past work has contributed to interdisciplinary science missions, including the Event Horizon Telescope for black hole interferometric imaging and space telescope missions for exoplanet direct imaging.

报告摘要Recent development in computational imaging has led to a series of great discoveries in astronomy.Integrated with advanced computationaltools, modern telescopes continue pushing the boundaries of astronomical imaging, making it possible to observe many scientific phenomena in extreme conditions. In this talk, I will introduce a series of innovative computational imaging tools we have developed for exoplanet direct imaging, including 1) a high-contrast coronagraph and extreme adaptive optics (ExAO) system for exoplanet direct imaging in space telescope, and 2)agenerative AI enable fast inference algorithm for exoplanet’s orbit fitting and atmospheric composition characterization.
