Prof. Slevin has a BA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and a PhD from Imperial College, London in Solid State Physics. Since 1997 he has been an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Science at the University of Osaka. He is a theorist with an interest in numerical simulations of disordered systems. A particular focus has been careful finite size scaling studies of the critical phenomena of the Anderson transition in various universality classes and the quantum Hall effect. His recent work is focused on the effect of spin-orbit-coupling on coherent backscattering in two-dimensional disordered systems with spin-orbit coupling.
